My older sister posted this today & I thought it was amazing & wanted to share! Please pray that God also provides for my mission trip to Hungary. Blessings!
God is cool.
I'm sure most of you already know that, but I'll share a specific example of God's coolness. Our church has a leadership program called VLI (Vineyard Leadership Institute). It's a lot of reading, theology, and community projects. Although Jamie and I are technically already part of the leadership team since we lead a kinship (small group), we really feel like this is something Jamie should do. Don't know why, just one of those God things. You just know when it's right. The problem is it costs $500+ every three months for the next 18 months. Seeing as we just make ends meet right now, not even considering I'm pregnant again, it was a real struggle for us to make this decision. But in the end, Jamie and I just felt like God was leading him to do this and that money shouldn't be a hindrance.
Now I fully expected God to provide for this. However, my idea of His provision was us eating a lot of ramen noodles and staying at home a lot more than we already do. We managed to scrape together a bit of money over the past few months, but still not enough.Last week, while Jamie was in Chicago, we received to pieces of mail which pertain to this story. 1- his bill for the first quarter of VLI = $519 and 2- a check from Jamie's parents' church in Georgia with the following note: "We have been thinking about you and praying for you and we wanted to bless you with this small gift to help cover whatever expenses you may have right now". This 'small gift' they mentioned? A check for $500!!! I immediately called Jamie crying. Naturally, he thought something was wrong since, well, I called him crying. I can only imagine the panic that went through the poor guy as his pregnant wife calls him from half-way across the country. But once I was able speak and tell him what arrived in the mail, he was just as overwhelmed and excited as I was.
God not only provided a huge need (that, incidentally, He said He would), but he used a group of believers from First Baptist Church Dublin, GA to do it. Honestly, the last partner I expected in this miracle.
